You Be My Master Once Again

You Be My Master Once Again

Inspiration: This poem is inspired from a real incidence where a Master, an Army Officer,  succumbed to severe burns, while saving his dearest pet that was caught in mid of fire.  Pet also succumbed to burn injuries later. It's an ultimate case of selfless love and care for a pet and will remain in memory of readers for ever.  This poem is from the dog's view and the poetic narration is imaginary and not actual sequence of events.

A tribute to the supreme sacrifice by master for his pet.

You Be My Master Once Again

High milky mountains

Under the sky, icey blue

Wilderness of valley so rousing

Concealed under pine grove

Chasing up, retrieving and doodle

Were so thrilling for me and Noodle

Crave for weekends were thriving

Family soccer and master's driving

Seek and fetch was a usual break

After finishing a strenuous treck

"Good Girl Noodle!"  and a kiss

Would flatter and put her in bliss

"You Fatty, bloody naughty"

And, Master's pat on my bum

Was a compliment for me

And my most desired thump

That wicked black kitty Kate

Eyeing on my bread at the gate

Making her run

Was such a fun

Days were warm to stretch upon

On snow cladded carpet lawn

Wintry chill would rise by sunset

Master would wrap me in blanket

Like a pearl, inside the casket.

It was a freezy,  chilling day

Finished our trek n called it a day

After a hectic weekend, so tired

Got to a warm corner and retired

I was sleeping to glory, under a cozy sheet

Suddenly I sensed, some scorching heat

Before I realised, what's the game

Aghast to see, our home in flame

Struggled a lot, to break the chain

All my efforts, were going in vain

Lost all hope, "Would I survive ?"

Suddenly, door broke, and master arrives

Lifted me and rushed for door

Muttered, "Bloody fatty, you better buck up"

Exhausted and stumbled on the floor

Fighter in my master, wouldn't give up

Drained and collapsed, at the door

Mumbled, "Good Bye, Maggie, this time"

"Be my buddy, again, next time"

Oh, come on  Master,

You are a fighter

I am not leaving you, alone here

Following you to heaven, Oh my dear

In our next life, we'll meet again

You be my master, once again
